Actonians LFC was founded in 1998 as Chiswick United consisting of one team playing at Southfield park in Chiswick. The team entered the Greater London League in 1999 and two years later a reserve team was formed. Four years and a promotion later the decision was made to move to Acton (Park Place the old District Line ground) and become Acton Sports Club. We had another 5 successful years there and the 1st team won another 3 promotions. In 2008 we suddenly found ourselves homeless when the ground changed ownership and we contacted Actonians who welcomed us and we have settled and grown here. We now run 3 senior teams , with our 1st team in the FA Women's National League, and 6 girls teams as well as development sessions for girls starting their footballing journey and women's recreational sessions for all abilities.
The girls section was started in 2010 with a small group of players. From 2014 we had 3 teams of varying age groups and then suddenly in the summer of 2017 we doubled in size from 3 to 6 teams! This was a challenge and we needed to quickly expand the committee, recruiting a new secretary, treasurer, head coach as well as more team coaches.
To keep our costs down and to encourage as many women and girls into football, all of our coaches and committee members are all unpaid volunteers. Everyone puts in a huge amount of time and effort, all on top of full time jobs and looking after families. We support all of our volunteers with coaching courses and encourage them to attend as many coaching workshops as possible. As our club continues to grow we are always on the lookout for great people to help with the running of our club such as fundraisers, social secretaries and parent reps.
